Married 20 years to Veronica Sean has no children but has a black Labrador dog called Millie.

Sean qualified as a schoolteacher in 1975 and has an Honours Degree in Education. He has spent 32 years teaching in secondary schools throughout the country, and some adult education.

Sean enjoyed teaching and wanted a different challenge. Having always loved driving to become a driving instructor combined his two passions. In 2007 he left the classroom and trained with a large national company as a driving instructor. He is now an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) registered with the Driving Standards Agency. He set up SJM Driver Training in April 2009.

His experience in education has taught him that everyone learns at a different rate and that different styles suit different people. He is able to adjust his lessons to suit the individual, as well as giving valuable advice to those taking their theory test.

Learning to drive can on the one hand be a stressful experience but should also be an enjoyable one. With his vast experience in education he has learnt to be very patient and understanding. It is only through good teaching and encouragement that people will attain their goal of learning to drive.

He has a good pass rate with many pupils passing the first time, although he believes it is not sufficient to simply teach people to pass the test. Once they have passed their test we all have to share the roads with them and therefore his goal is to create safe drivers for life.

Learning to drive gives people so much freedom, for their social life and improving their employment prospect. Learning to drive is certainly an investment which is why we believe so strongly in the phrase Safe Driving An Investment For Life.

Sean is also keen to offer very short courses for people who may have passed their test many years ago and would like a refresher. These may be for the not so young who want to have their

driving assessed, or people who lack confidence on motorways. We are very flexible and willing to work with anyone to help them improve their driving.

New drivers are more likely to have a crash in their first two years of driving than at any other time in their driving career. Every day in Britain, 2 under 25s die in road accidents. These are horrific statistics and Sean offers the Pass Plus course for newly qualified drivers. The course is designed to provide that extra training which is so valuable to new drivers. Following the course the new driver is able to obtain up to 30% discount from some insurance companies, this saving will often pay for the course itself.
